Egypt-UK Newton-Musharafa Fund 2016
The Newton Fund promotes the economic development and welfare of poor people in partnering countries, through science and innovation partnerships. It aims to strengthen science and innovation capacity and unlock further funding to support poverty alleviation. It is managed by UK’s Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, and delivered through 15 UK delivery partners in collaboration with 15 partner countries
The Fund brings together the British and Egyptian scientific research and innovation sectors to find joint solutions to the challenges facing Egypt in economic development and social welfare.
The 2016 rounds of Institutional Links and Researcher Links (workshops/travel grants) are now open.
The Fund support projects in five priority areas:
- Sustainable water management
- Renewable energy
- Sustainable food production
- Archaeology and cultural heritage
- Affordable and inclusive healthcare
