Department of Agricultura Zoology
Zoology department was considered as a branch of Plant Protection Dept. since 1973/1974. On the 1 St. of December 1992, it has established as an independent department containing several scientific agricultural zoology branches such as Nematology, Acarology, Malacology etc. These are the disciplines in which it grants the degrees of M.Sc. and Ph. D. to the graduate students.
Until 1999 about 15 graduate students were granted either M.SC. or Ph.D. degrees . Up to now,14 graduate students are registered for higher degrees in the various fields of Agricultural Zoology (3 M.Sc. in each of the branches Nematology , Acarology and Malacology, while five students were registered for Ph. D., one in Malacolgy and 4 in Nematology).
Undergraduate Courses
The Department Teaches the following courses to the General Division students
- General Zoology
- Comparative animal physiology
- Animal pests (Rodents & Birds)
Students Summer Training Program
Includes nematoda extraction and identification of symptoms induced by plant parasitic nematodea and mites . The program starts from the first of August to the first of September every year for General and Plant Protection Divisions .
Postgraduate Courses
About 20 courses related the subjects of economic nematodes, nematodes taxonomy , animal tissues, morphology of mites, economic animal pests, economic mollusks are teach during the first and second semesters .

Teaching and Research facilities
Establishment of a nematology research unit includes
Laboratory provided with various equipments. & Apparatus for postgraduate students.
Teaching hall for graduate & postgraduate students .
The unit is also provided with greenhouse – semi-field concrete bin for micro-plot experiments.
