Scientific information on the botany, ecological distribution and statues of the selected medicinal plants with colored photographs of the species to assist the conservation efforts and sustainable use of these species.
The traditional knowledge and different medical uses of the selected species in the different phyto-geographical regions of Egypt to assist the documentation of this wealth.
Genomic fingerprint for the selected species using the DNA barcoding technique to assist of the selected species to assist the authentication and identification of medicinal plant materials and to keep the intellectual property rights (IPR) of the different communities in these species and to distinguish pharmacopeia plant materials from their common substitutes and adulterants; and
Information exchange among scientific communities and all others stakeholders of medicinal plants activities (members of regulatory authorities, practitioners of orthodox and of traditional medicine, pharmacists, other health professionals, manufacturers of herbal products, and research scientists).
A series of volumes, the Egyptian Encyclopedia of wild medicinal plants will consist of monographs on the selected wild medicinal plants in Egypt. The monographs will be performed by researcher and university staff members working in the field of medicinal plants and related scientific topics. Each monograph follows a standard format with information followed by a reference list. Each monograph will contain all the available information and scientific results on the selected species include the following: names, botanical features, the part used, geographical distribution, ecology, status, active or major chemical constituents, folk medicinal uses, traditional knowledge, ethno-botany, pharmacological actions, toxicity, pharmacopoeial summary, pharmaceutical preparations at any time available, economy, propagation methods, significant and general references. Every monograph will contain photos of the selected plant and its different organs along with a brief Arabic summary. The selected plants will be arranged in alphabetic order. Each monograph will contain an index at the end to facilitate the citation and more information.
