Faculty of Agriculture Hosts Lithuanian Academic Delegation to Explore Joint Research Collaboration
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and in line with the University’s strategy to promote academic openness and international collaboration, the Faculty of Agriculture hosted an academic delegation from Lithuania. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Antanas Juostas and Prof. Dr. Eglė Jotautienė from the Department of Agricultural Machinery Engineering and Safety at the Agriculture Academy of Vytautas Magnus University, within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Shata, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sobhi, the Faculty’s International Relations Coordinator, and Dr. Mohamed Abu Habaga, Visit Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering. Commemorative shields were presented in recognition of the visit and in support of future academic cooperation.
The visit included a scientific programme in the laboratories of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, where the delegation was introduced to the Faculty’s research and applied capabilities. These included the Agri-Tronics Smart Agriculture Laboratory, the Biogas Engineering Laboratory, the Food Processing Engineering Laboratory, and the Modern Irrigation Systems Laboratory.
The programme also covered the Seed Pathology and Tissue Culture Laboratory and the Electron Microscopy Unit, where ongoing research activities and technologies for seed disease diagnosis and the study of plant–pathogen interactions were presented.
In addition, the delegation delivered a series of specialized lectures. Prof. Eglė Jotautienė delivered two lectures entitled “Granular Organic Fertilisers Towards a Sustainable Environment” and “Study of Granular Fertiliser Application Using a Centrifugal Spreader.” Prof. Antanas Juostas delivered two lectures entitled “Integration of Remote Monitoring Systems for Fuel Consumption and Environmental Impact Control” and “Automatic Guidance Systems: Potential Applications in Field Operations and Their Benefits.”
This visit aligns with the University’s efforts to establish sustainable international research partnerships, particularly in the fields of sustainable agriculture, food safety, and biotechnology, thereby strengthening its international research profile.
